SQLite viewer online

Open Data → Open .db / .sqlite file to browse and query your own database. It is read by SQLite running in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. The sample shop database is loaded until you open one.

query.sql · SQLite
SELECT * FROM customers;

What you can do with it

  • Browse tables: tap a table name to see its first 20 rows.
  • Inspect the schema: Data → Show schema lists every CREATE TABLE statement.
  • Query: joins, GROUP BY, window functions and CTEs all work (this is SQLite 3).
  • Export: copy any result straight into a spreadsheet, download it as CSV, or download the whole database.
  • Import CSV: load a CSV as a new table and query it alongside the rest.

Useful queries for an unfamiliar database

-- every table and how it was created
SELECT name, sql FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table';

-- columns of one table
PRAGMA table_info(customers);

-- row count per table (repeat for each table)
SELECT 'customers' AS tbl, COUNT(*) FROM customers;

Need the syntax for something else? The SQL cheat sheet covers it, and the SQL joins explainer shows how each join treats unmatched rows. To practise on sample data only, use the SQL online editor.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a .db or .sqlite file online?

Open the Data menu above and choose “Open .db / .sqlite file…”. The file is read by SQLite compiled to WebAssembly inside your browser; it is never uploaded. Every table appears as a button, and you can run any SQL query against it.

Is my database uploaded to a server?

No. The file is loaded into your browser’s memory and queried there. Closing the tab discards it.

Can I edit the database and save it?

Yes. Run INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE or ALTER statements, then choose “Download database” from the Data menu to save the modified copy. Your original file is not changed.

How big a file can I open?

It depends on your device’s memory, because the whole file is loaded at once. Files of tens of megabytes open fine on a laptop; very large databases are better opened with the sqlite3 command-line tool or DB Browser for SQLite.

Can I turn a CSV into a SQLite table?

Yes. Choose “Import CSV as a table…”. The first row becomes the column names, numbers are stored as numbers, and empty cells as NULL. You can then query, join and export it.
